Yunnan 2023, Day 8: Kunming And Back Home

Yunnan 2023, Day 8: Kunming And Back Home

This morning, I took a short troll to the Kunming’s Dounan Flower Market before going to the Kunming Changshui International Airport to take the flight back home.

When I got back home, I lost about 1 kg. I thought the food was quite okay, but maybe I didn’t eat enough.

In general, cities and towns in Yunnan have mild temperatures. I liked Dali, Shangri-La, and Kunming while they were cool and pleasant. Lijiang was a little too hot and dry the days I were there. The fruits there are so much like in Vietnam. They have everything tropical. In this June, they have lychee, and durian. Besides, they have a special Chinese bayberry which I didn’t recall eating it before it. Other berries and cherries are available at affordable price. This was better than in Vietnam.

The food wasn’t as oily as I had thought. They had a lot of vegetables, too.

Yunnan 2023, Day 6: Potatso National Park

Yunnan 2023, Day 6: Potatso National Park

This morning, I went to visit the Potatso National Park in Shangri-La. The transfer bus to the inside of the park was the longest I’ve ever sit. The surrounding somehow reminded me of the Flower Lake (Hua Hu) in Ruoergai (Zoigê) which I visited in 2019. The elevation of this place was also the same, about 3,600m. But it was a pity I didn’t stroll a full round of the boardwalk.

After lunch, I said goodbye to the sunny and windy Shangri-La to get back to Lijiang by visiting the giant prayer wheel at the Guishan Park and the Shangri-la Inner Harmony Stupa of Pagoda.

When I got back to the same hotel in Lijiang, there was a crowd in front of the Huimin Supermarket. Turned out they were celebrating the International Children’s Day. I laughed when I heard children replying “shou ji” when they were asked what gift they wanted.

Tomorrow I’ll take the speed train for the first time in China to be back to Kunming.

Yunnan 2023, Day 5: Tiger Leaping Gorge And Shangri-La

Yunnan 2023, Day 5: Tiger Leaping Gorge And Shangri-La

This morning, I went to the Tiger Leaping Gorge. Though the water was not as high, the gorge was worth looking. It was another sunny day in Yunnan, but as I went higher, the weather was cooler to my liking.

In the afternoon, I reached Shangri-La (Zhongdian) in Yunnan. The so-called little Potala was a lot like Langmusi where I visited in the border of Sichuan and Gansu in 2019. The city, however, was more modern than Langmusi. I hardly saw any horse on the street.

I enjoyed the Yak hotpot in the evening with specific Tibetan welcoming culture and dance. After the meal, they even set a camp-fire and all people gathered to dance around it.
