The Spirit of Lunar New Year

Some people say the Lunar New Year has lost its meaning because material life has become abundant and human bonds have grown shallow. Others say it is because society has developed too fast and ideas of liberation have gone too far. If you ask children whether they like the Lunar New Year, they still do, because they get time off from school, no homework, and can watch TV and play on their phones as much as they want. But then how is that any different from summer vacation.

As for me, I feel that the the Lunar New Year atmosphere has become more and more faded mainly because the sound of the Lunar New Year firecrackers is missing. First firecracker strings were abandoned, then even fireworks were banned. In the past, whenever the Lunar New Year came, I loved going out into the streets to see the pink and red firecracker remnants everywhere, and staying up until midnight on New Year’s Eve just to set off firecrackers. Now there are only fireworks at a few locations, and you cannot even watch them properly because high-rise buildings block the view. No one really wants to stay up until midnight anymore. If only the government would give each household a few packs of firecrackers to light during the Lunar New Year, wouldn’t it be so much more joyful.

Vị Tết

Người thì nói Tết mất đi ý nghĩa vì vật chất phong phú, vì thân tình đạm bạc; người thì nói vì xã hội phát triển quá nhanh, tư tưởng giải phóng quá độ. Hỏi trẻ em thích Tết không thì chúng vẫn thích vì được nghỉ học, không phải làm bài tập, xem tivi chơi điện thoại thỏa thích, nhưng thế thì khác gì nghỉ hè đâu.

Mình thì thấy vị Tết càng lúc càng mờ nhạt nguyên nhân chủ yếu là do vắng thiếu tiếng pháo Tết. Ban đầu bỏ pháo dây, sau cấm cả pháo hoa. Ngày xưa cứ Tết là thích ra đường vì xác pháo hồng hồng đỏ đỏ, Giao thừa ráng thức tới 12 giờ canh đốt pháo. Giờ pháo hoa có 1 vài điểm cũng xem k được vì xung quanh bị nhà cao tầng che hết rồi, chẳng còn ai muốn thức tới nửa đêm. Giá mà Nhà nước phát mỗi nhà vài ba phong pháo đốt Tết có phải là vui không?
